I just did one of the 15 minute AR trigger jobs. Bend the trigger spring legs to 30*, cut one of the hammer springs back halfway, used JB bore paste on the trigger/hammer engagement areas to polish the metal, worked the triggger about twenty times, disassembled, cleaned and relubed.
Anybody had any trouble doing this type of trigger work on an AR? I've done it before on several Colts and Bushmasters, but never had a problem with American made ammo. Will it cause problems with foreign made stuff? Like S&B, not Wolf!

Yeah, I've used those yellow springs before and were happy with them. Maybe I should have included them in my order to Brownells. But I've already got 3 sets of standard hammer and trigger springs. So I just did the spring  modification. I've done it on several ARs and never had a problem until last year. A 9mm Colt AR I did the trigger mod too wouldn't ignite some type of Nato 9mm stuff. I never saw the ammo or malfunction but was told about it.
Like I said, never a problem with US ammo, but just wondered if anyone had had problems with foreign milsurp.

I installed the Reduced Power Spring Kit from JP in my original AR, ended up with a very nice trigger on that rifle, I've never had a misfire using IMI M193 and also Wolf ammo, so I am very pleased.

I've used those springs on a Colt Elite I had. It worked fine. I've even used the screw through the grip to limit trigger travel. It is hard to get a "crisp" break on an AR short of modifying the engagement areas, specifically on the hammer bottom. Not something I like to do but can.
The RRA M4 I'm messing with is not gonna be a "one hole shooter" anyway but I do want the trigger as good as I can get it and also as realiable no matter what ammo I can grunge up!

I've got the jp yellow springs in mine, they've  been reliable with all ammo I've shot, no light strike or ftfs.

I may be wrong but IIRC someone at the 2nd shoot I went to said they had done the 15min triger job and got light strikes with some ammo I can't remember who...... but i thought that's what someone told me..........

The ISMI chrome silicon trigger spring kits for an AR are supposedly great. Relieving the bottom of the hammer just a few thousandths will take out the creep - hammer roll back on the trigger pull.
But it has to be cut SQUARE and done on a trial and fit basis.
The trigger take up can be taken out with the set screw through the pistol grip screw but it will NOT stop that creep from the hammer roll back.
Buying one of the RRA match triggers or any after market trigger ain't my style. I've got time and the superior intelligence to do a really nice trigger on an AR. Just how much I want to spend on milspec parts to replace the ones I frig up ain't gonna cost a quarter of what  I would spend on an after market trigger.
Hell, playing with them is half the fun! Making them work well and durable is the challenge.
