Used my Troy rear sights last night for the first time, I didn't have to zero which was lucky.

What do you guy's think, I'm quite happy with the grouping, rested on the mag.

Sitting down, resting the mag on a bench.

Rapid or slow fire ?

Slow. Like I said it's the first time I've used the irons, interesting.

Off topic , but as a comparison, Gavin took a pic on his iPhone at CSR on Sunday. Someone shooting on lane 98 managed an approx 1.5" 5 shot group at 300 shot rapid.

Don't know if that was a Service or Practical optic shooter, but was a pretty impressive group !

Gavin - Got that pic ?

Cool, I'm just an average club plinker, I just wanted to see what I should be aiming for.

My second attempt last night, the 2 fliers were when the guy next door bumped the bench.

Getting better.

Andy.
You should be able to get to 5 shot 1/2" groups with irons rested @ 25m.
I still use a 3" disc to shoot at due to poor indoor range lighting...and low light
does not help my tired eyes either

I''m sure you will mate.
With irons, the test is of you, not the gun as your BAR may  shoot nr 1" at 100m with optic I reckon.
When I shot CSR in Jan, there was a gent shooting next to me with irons @ 500m.
Eff me, they were on the target.
I could'nt even see the damn target with my eyes

No doubt there'll be an Uber shooter who'll get a better group than mine.

Well last time I shot Csr I used old bobs AR with irons and hit the target all the time even out to 5/600 yds. In fact my next AR for Csr is being build solely with irons. I found it faster to aquire the target

Back in 2003 when my eyes were good and I was starting to shoot my best Highpower, I put 25 ex 26 shots on a Figure E silhouette with irons at 500yds in 50 secs at Rio Salado in a rattle battle match.
Beat all the Yanks too

That's spectacular shooting in my book !

Not remotely the same kind of achievement...I used to shoot a 6" Python revolver way back in the day.
On occasion I put a cylinder full of .357 into the Alpha @ 100m with open sights.
Lovely old thing it was...
I think my eyes have got very tired lately. They aint what they were.
I seem to have a lag refocusing from close to objects further away.

Anyway, not to detract from Andys thread, keep at it, & make the most of younger eyes !

Here's an idea, I'll just stick with my Eotech & magnifier & keep the Buis as a back up for a shtf situation like any good Arfcommer would.

41 ?

My arse.

My eyes are the same. I have trouble focussing at very close up. Its the muscles that control the optic nerve...they harden with age, and slow down, so you have trouble flipping from close to distant.

Wanking every day doesn,t help either.
