either in 10mm or .40  and thinking of which is better.  Which ammo is more prevalent ?  Never had a Glock so I thought I would try one.  Normally I would buy 9mm or .45 but I also thought I should try a new calber as well.  Recommendations?  


THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY FOR YOUR INPUT   I have had 13-14  1911's and I know what I am not going to miss...looks as if the .40 would be a likelihood ...I'll just head out to the local indoor range and rent a few to see what fits.

I do't think you can go wrong with any Glock.  That said, the 19/23/32 size is what I like the best.  A 23 in .40 is what I would choose if I were getting a 40.

10mm is not cheap you will shoot 40 more because it is cheaper.  That said get 23 or 35 depending on your purpose.  35 is not really concealable but has better range and handling, the 23 is concealable.  The middle of the line is the 22 it is not easily concealable short of a bulky coat/jacket so all the more reason to go different ends.  I have a Witness 10mm it will fire, cycle, and extract 40 I just don't advise it.  If you reload 10mm is more economical because you can use 40 bullets on 10mm cases.

It depends.  

The 10mm is a lot more flexible, and with full loads the 10mm is more powerful than the .40.  

The downside is that 10mm ammo is harder to find and generally more expensive.  If you reload, this isn't much of an issue.  

The .40 Glocks come on the 9mm-size frame, while the 10mm Glocks come on the larger .45-size frame.  Shooters with small- to medium-sized hands sometimes find the larger frame too big for their tastes.  

But if you like the 10mm caliber, the Glock is the perfect platform for it.  

Myself, I'd go with the Glock 20, but I have big hands and a reloading press.  YMMV.

I went the route of more "common" chamberings in the way of a G17 and a G21. Keep in mind that the G21 is a larger frame pistol.
