will novak sights fit on to a series 1 kimber without having to modify them or the slide?

If they are Novak sights made for a Kimber you are good to go.  Kimbers slides are cut differently than most other 1911s out there so the sights must be for the Kimber cut.

The standard Novak is cut for a "Novak Cut".  Novak also sells sights with a "Kimber Cut".  Also Trijicon sells a Novak Style sight with a Kimber Cut.
