Just reading a thread in GD about Ruger building a 1911. Woo frakking hooo. I'm a 1911 guy but geeze this is what, the 342,015th mfr making a 1911? Build a frakking 5 shot .44 magnum or .45 Colt / 454/480 based on a GP100 size frame and you'll sell them by the boat load. I remember mentioning this to a Ruger Rep at the NRA meetings in Seattle in 1997 and he said he hears this all the time and it was soon forthcoming. Here 12 years later all I hear about is a 1911. Look, if I am in the market for another 1911 it will be a big name builder like Wilson, Baer, Brown, or a SA to send off to one of them. I would however buy a medium framed 5 shot big frakkin nasty revolver from a quality mfr. Build the farking thing already!!!!! Be different from everybody else and build something we know you guys can do right the first time. i doubt they will sell boat loads of the GP100 in the big bore calibers. People were jumping to buy the S&W 500 and so and so. guess what, you sure do see alot of them FS used. anyone that has shot one will know better then to want a SMALL gun in the same caliber. also, i doubt the GP100 frame can handle the pressures of the big bore. maybe a 45LC or 44Mag/SPC version, but i seriously doubt any 454/480 I for one would be interested to see what Ruger comes up with in the 1911 department. I would hope that they would do some innovative thinking/design instead of regurgitating whats out there. However, if they could make one in the <400 range or less, it would be interesting. |
