My charles daly 1911 has issues. I put a full length 5inch guide rod in it and now after firing I can not remove the slide for cleaning. I remove the slide lock and it moves about 1mm then stops. I dont have a clue how to fix this. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Btw the pistol still functions fine slide moves in normal operation. I just cant remove the slide from lower receiver. |

Try holding the pistol so the muzzle is pointed down while taking the slide off. You are most likely running into the barrel link binding in the frame. You may have to put a bevel on the guide rod to give that link a little more room to float in there. Bob www.millercustom.com |

If the slide still binds, try moving it back and forth a bit and keep jiggling it to make sure that link is floating and not binding. You may have to tap on it or gently tap the muzzle on a counter or something to work it loose. Give it a shot, let me know how it goes.
