I got some vz grips for christmas that I will be installing this evening (assuming I have the T15 torx driver for the screws I got with it).  What should I do to be sure that the existing screws come out?  I am sure that heating them up is the suggestion but how?  Oven...what temp and will it affect MIM parts in a Kimber.  When the new screws go in should I use blue loctite?

the grip screws should come out with a simple turn of the screwdriver (or allen wrench or whatever type of screw is used)

they shouldn't have locktite on them.

when you put the new grip screws in, dont use loctite either

If they have been set in place with blue loctite, I wouldn't heat the whole gun up.  Especially not to temperatures that would call heat treatment into question.  Just apply the tip of a soldering iron to the screws until the loctite lets up.  This might mess up the existing grips if you have plastic or rubber.

Also note that you may need new bushings and screws to match to accommodate the thinner VZ's.

Be sure to use a good, tight-fitting tool to remove the existing screws.  Generally I don't need to use heat, even if blue Loctite was used.

I find the VZ grips don't give much, so screws do tend to loosen quickly.  I use purple threadlocker, or a tiny bit of blue if purple is not available.
