Today at the range I was playing with my kimber. I'm using a surefire mr07 mount which has its own slide release which is a bit more tough than the typical lever. I have 3 of the 8rd Wilson Combat service magazines. When using these magazines several times my slide closed on an empty chamber.

While examining the magazines I realized that the springs seem kind of limp and the follower tips forwards easily. I think that the mag is not strong enough to regularly trip the slide catch and lock back.

Any thoughts on this theory? Also, what magazine would you suggest with a stronger spring and a follower with guides on it, similar to some AR mags?

ETD: I think these mags are also causing FTF. They also don't lock in unless I go through the extra effort to snap them in either by pushing them to lock or popping them with the heel of my hand. My stock Kimber mag was flawless in that respect.

Not much at all. They're relatively new.
