I agree. We should have a 1911 forum here.

Once we do, it can declare war on the Glock forum.

Having just dumped my last Glock to return to 1911's for fun and CZ's/Maks for CCW's I'm ready for those plastic fiends!

A 1911 Forum here?  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
It will end up being like those two other 1911 sites. Filled with pansies, wimps, and thin skinned homos. Oh, and cliques out the ass too. Talk about a "good ole boy network". If you don't fit in with their way of thinking or if you don't agree that Colt is still the king of the 1911's then it off to the land of the banned in no time flat. If you want to "suck up" just so you won't get banned then I suggest you join www.1911forum.com - And if the word shucks or gosh darn it is in your vocabulary then don't bother joining www.thehighroad.org otherwise you'll be shitcanned in no time flat.

This site (AR-15) is the best of the lot. It has EVERYTHING here and it isn't micro managed like those other pre school sites.

Heck if money was no object and I had a full time crew I could drive a Top Fuel Dragster to buy bread, but would you choose it to drive to hunting camp and back by yourself?

Aimless, Aimless, Aimless...cant believe you said that.

Glock knew nothing about guns .

It would take a large volume on the guns that Browning designed, the ones that are STILL in use with the US Military 80+ years later, and the effects his designs are still having today.

The reason we don't have a 1911 forum is because since the advent of Glock the only reason to carry a 1911 is if you are a prison bitch protecting yo suger daddy's meat.

Everyone's entitled to be obnoxious about being WRONG.

I'll be obnoxious about being right:

Go ahead, spout off about your Eurotrash Tactical Tupperware while we 1911-fan's continue to carry the pistol that guaranteed your right to mouth off for 65 years.

Gaston Glock did have a good idea AND at the right time, no doubt.  But John M. Browning invented so many great Rifles, shotguns, and pistols that it is staggering.  Not particularly a 1911 fan here (but I have one) also have a Browning A5, Winchester 1890, Win 97, Colt Woodsman, and a Win 94.  Just a couple that JMB invented. I would like to have a Browning High Power some day as they feel right in my hand.  I got one of them Tactical Tupperware things too, and I like it.  John M. Browning was one of Americas greatest men and one of the greatest firearms inventors of all time.  I bet him and Sam Colt were 'up there' plinking earlier today with the 'new kid', Bill Ruger.  Wouldn't that be a conversation to snoop in on!

If you are a 1911 owner looking to buy another, yes- because you know the one you have to have and the options and modifications you want on it(this ain't a bad thing as I would fall into this category).
But, you can get a new Colt 1911A1, blued (not the parkerized that are all over the market), for $600.

I don't really care what the LAPD or whoever uses.
I've been shooting the 1911 since the 1970's, and nothing works better in My hand.

The Glock is a good design, simple, reliable.

Most competitive shooters can shoot a 1911 better than anything else.

To say that the Glock has replaced the 1911, or has rendered it obsolete,  is just silly.

Sometimes it takes a smack in the head to make a bad guy compliant, don't try pistol whipping with a Glock, because when it breaks in two, you'll have a little piece of plastic in your hand.

My 1911 has been 100% reliable for several 1000 rounds and has better ergonomics and accuracy than a Glock.

First off.....the 1911 never gauranteed any freedom.....The armed forces with their tanks, planes, artillery, and 30 caliber rifles did most of that along with the actions and lives of many brave Americans. The pistol never swayed a battle's outcome....one way or another.

Secondly.....most of us are descended from "Eurotrash". If you are not Native American or Hispanic your ancestors came here from elsewhere to populate this great nation. For many of us, that means Europe. To vilify Gaston Glock as Eurotrash while upholding John Browning on the basis of "Eurotrash" is ignorant in the extreme. The entire history of what we know as "modern" firearms began in Europe including artillery and tanks, and personal firearms. More recently (post WWII) our rocketry, missile technology, and space program was speeded along by captured German scientists.

John Browning was derived from European stock, as were all the great people we have to thank for our wonderful heritage and weaponry.

The Glock is simply the next evolution in the heritage.

Please note that the 1911 BROWNING and the GLOCK are not named the RODRIGUEZ or the SITTING BULL!!!!!!

No offense intended but most of our industrialization including weaponry came from Europe.......then we made it our own.

Long live freedom.....especially speech....be it obnoxious....or just plain ignorant.

Of course if you've been p***y whipped by political correctness or just don't know much about history...............

First off.....the 1911 never gauranteed any freedom... [insert half-page of drivel here]

A Glock is a tool for putting bullets downrange.. It's light, durable, simple, and cheap. It's direct descendants and design infleuences include a rather dandy entrenching tool, the cinder block, and the Play Skool Workbench Set.  Like the AK, it assumes complete ignorance from it's users. In a tactical situation this may be ideal. This is not a tactical situation, though we appreciate the verbal confirmation of your suitability to operate a glock.
The M1911 style of pistol is, depending on it's pedigree, a finely tuned example of the gunmaker's art and a celebrated standard throughout the last 90-odd years of military and civilian arms.  It's evolution has tuned and perfected it to a high state. It's original design ensured good ergonomics, ease of use, reliability, and accuracy. It's normally made of steel, which for my dollar is a little more endearing in a device made to contain and direct an explosion. Oh yea, and from what I heard from my girlfriend's father's cousin, God hisself touched JM Browning on the shoulder and said, "Hey buddy.. You gotta have a look at this new pistol.. The thing chucks BRICKS!"

1911's far outweigh any glock out there no doubt.

How many matches are won by glocks?  I normally or should say regularly shoot cast lead bullets in my 1911,care to do that in a Glock?

I would say too that likeing a 1911 is much like loving an M1,what more can you say!

A FAL is .308 and an M1 is .308 but do you think that there is anyway you can put on paper anywhere close to the M1 at any given range?

A Glock is maybe.45acp but please can it put on paper anywhere near the 1911!

Think about it!
