The USFA Rodeo in 45 Colt got a good write up in the February issue of "Handloader". I can get a new one for $449. Is it worth the money?

Click "U.S.F.A. 2002 Catalog", then go to bottom left corner and click "Rodeo".

From what I understand, they are the closest you'll get to an original Colt. In fact, the're made at the original colt factory.
Colt's are beautiful, well balanced, accurate guns.
They are, however not as safe as modern guns.
The most obvious is the lack of a transfer bar safety. provided you only put 5 rounds in it, and keep the empty chamber under the hammer, you'll be ok.
They aren't as strong as a modern revolver. If you stick to factory loads you'll be fine.

If you want a good safe single action revolver, that can handle high pressures, check out a ruger Vaquero. Same price range.

But to answer your question, yes, that's a good deal.

I would also urge you to consider a Ruger Vaquero.  It is a more "modern" gun, with added safety features.  It is also often regarded as being structurally one of the strongest single action pistols on the market.  Get a stainless steel or carbon steel Vaquero in .45LC and you will be good to go (I prefer stainless).

You should be able to pick up a Vaquero for around $420 out the door (stainless) or even less if it is blued model.

I will have to 3rd the Vasquero. Since I recently got the 45 conv. acp/LC  for $475 out the door. Around here pricing is 400+/- $40
