i wills tart off by stating that i own a G19 and it is my primary carry weapon,
this Glock is perfect size for carry, light and the main reason is its a glock, dont get me wrong, but a glock has the ccredibility of being totaly 100% reliable , every pull of the trigger is a boom , i would tell you to watch the movie clips of a guy on here putting his glock through every test amaginable like towing it behind his truck down the road, tossing it off his garage roof onto concrete, letting it sit in a five gallon bucket filled with water and rock salt for four days, dropping it out of an airplain, so on after each test all with the saeme weapon i might add he unloads the clip , but enough with the reliabilty all it comes down to is for a carry weapon you wan tto depend on it and he has done test with sigs, and usp's and they failed the dirt ina bucket test they wouldnt fire, go to the shop, hold each one, hell tuck it in your pants, how does each feel, weigh out the differences im sure each one is got high and lows all i know is i love sigs i have shot them before but i trust my glock like i trust my dog to take a shit everyday isnt it worht it to buy a gun you would trust your life with Glockster19 |

I like Sigs better myself but for a carry gun of the two I would choose the G19. You will have an easier time finding holsters for it. I think the above post is about Bigbore and his G21. I believe he uses Mags in his Glock not Clips

Totally different class of weapons in terms of size. The 226 is much bigger obviously. 229 vs G19, now that is much closer to a match. I would choose the Glock over both because I prefer the feel and design of Glock The 226 is just too big to be honest |

The G19 is my CCW of choice. I would recommend it.

I own both a G19 and 229. The 229 is the most accurate handgun I own, but I believe it is a bit too heavy for everyday carry. I've always been skeptical about Glocks, but I purchased one last month and now I carry my G19 everyday. I think Sig is a better firearm in general, but you have to weigh the pro's and con's and for everyday carry, I'd have to say Glock.

I carry a P229 in 40 every day. Between a P229R DAK and G19. I would go with the SIG.

Sig 229 all the way. Carry a 229 with CT grips. love it. it is not too heavt, just get a good belt.

The best thing about the SIG is its SA trigger. Take that away and what's the point? Looks like a giant step backwards. |

I just made this decision two days ago. I own a G19 and wanted to add a Sig 229 or a G17. After talking to my smith and a Pro shooter that was hanging out in the shop I went with a new G17 and a case of 9mm ammo.

Get the Sig. Both are fine weapons. True, accessories and mags would be cheaper for the G19, but if $$$ isn't really an issue, go with the Sig.

I rented a Glock 19 at a local range tonight and it was incredibly uncomfortable to shoot because of the thumb recess, it was way too high and my thumb rested on the little ridge sticking out resulting in a slight blister after shooting about 200 rounds. I loved everything else about the Glock 19 though, but I can't buy a gun that is so uncomfortable to shoot like that. I handled a used Generation 2 Glock 19 in the store at the range and it was a LOT more comfortable, but unfortunately it didn't have the accessory rail.

The G19 is the lightest semi in a decent size I've found. Only 20 ounces unloaded. I have yet to find another in a comparable size that is this light. The XD is about 25, 26 oz, my USP I think is around 25 oz. I have a bad back, and that extra 6 oz does make a big difference. I prefer both Glocks and HKs.

Both are great pistols. I've got a G19 on the short list, a Sig P228 and P229. I have a hard time imagining a gun more accurate than either of my Sigs. They are very ergonomically friendly as well, more so for me than Glocks. And the trigger on Sigs is a great thing. I haven't shot a DAK, but I have dry fired one, and I'd advise the standard DA/SA. The reset on the DAK was kinda long, and I don't belive it offers any safety advantages. I'm sure that a G19 would be slightly easier to CCW everyday, but I have a lot of confidence in my ability with my Sigs, and that makes the difference.

Normally, I'd say Sig, but if the DAK is your only option, I'd tell ya to go for the Glock.

I have a Glock 23 and a Sig P228. The only difference to me is that the P228 is a bit heavier to carry CCW than the Glock and the M-23 has a thinner grip. The slides on both seem to be about the same thickness. It would be a hard choice between the two handguns you are looking at. I would shoot both and pick the one you shoot the best and find easier to carry.

Get the Glock - Black and Plastic just like the beloved AR-15. What else do you need to know?
Then go buy some extra mags, holster, and a whole bunch of ammo!! I love my two 19 & 26 Later, Badredfish

Yeah, I have had run-ins with the Finger Grooves of Glock Perfection too. I swapped a perfectly good G23 with them for a G19 without them, and my G17 lacks them as well. In the unlikely event I ever buy another Glock, it will be second-generation or it will have the finger grooves sanded off posthaste. |

Reread my Message.... I did not say they are going to the 40. Said they were going away from the 9MM. The next US pistol as it stands now will be a 45. Guns > Govt. what the US military is doing has nothing to do with the effectiveness of 9mm vs .45 using cartridges that you and i can buy at the local gun store. the US military, while not signatories, abide by the rules set forth in the Hague Peace Conference documents. hence, with the exception of "open tip" SMK's used by the sniper community, US forces engaged in "war operations" do not employ hollow point cartriges -- only ball ammunition. 9mm ball is a lousy performer when it comes to putting down enemy soldiers. so is .22 ball. and so is .45 ball. it can be probably safely be stated that .45 ball is "less worse" than 9mm ball, but both of them suck compared to modern jacketed hollow point ammo. and therein lies the end of the argument that "the military is going back to .45, whcih proves that .45 is better than 9mm". the fact is that the military has decided to use ball ammo, and ball ammo is not optimum for taking people out of the fight -- no matter what caliber. any of the 9mm JHP cartridges intended for self-defense/law enforcement, for example the 124gr Speer Gold Dot in P or +P, is worlds better than any .45 ball round. all this noise does is cloud the fact that you should be shooting the caliber that you shoot best with, and you should be spending your time either getting training or practicing, rather than worrying about the trivial differences in performance between modern 9mm and .45 cartridges. ar-jedi |

A military branch that uses .40 Talk to anyone in the U.S. Coast Guard. We all just switched to the SIG P229R DAK. And hearing the news comming out of Crane Indiana the other services are a bit jelious. I remember standing a pier watch once with a navy guy. Myself with a brand new 870P with a Speedfeed grip and buttstock, with a dot scope, loaded with copper slugs sitting in a 14" barrel, and the navy guy packing a baretta, who had a little gun envy. Then came the marines MP patrol, who couldn't get over how our 12ga was better than theirs.
