Hello one and all,

About three months ago I purchased a new S&W 1911PD 45, one with the 4 1/4 inch barrel.  Been fired almost 1,000 rounds now and I am please to say that this sweet-shooting 45 has been 110% reliable - -  GREAT pistol  ! !

But . . . I have a trigger pull problem.  Trigger pull is to LIGHT  ! !    My gauge says three pounds - too light for me on  a "carry gun".

Any ideas on what I can do to increase the pull, let's say up to 5 or 5 1/2 pounds ? ?

Comments greatly appreciated.

Thanks  ! !

On something like that, I'd let a competent smith take care of it. Personally, I wouldn't risk screwing up  the trigger.

The weight of your trigger pull is controled by the three fingered spring that also controls the grip safety and the hammer. You can increase or decrease the weight of your trigger pull by increasing or decreasing the curve of the spring. I have done this numerous times on my target pistol to get exactly the trigger break I want. There is no reason to swap out parts if the trigger feels good except for the weight.

SgtGold is correct.  You can bend the leftmost leg of the sear spring which will directly increase the weight of the trigger pull.   The middle leg of the spring has an indirect effect on the pull as well, but I would leave that alone as long as your disconnector moves positively up and down with no binding.
