Taurus Honored as
Manufacturer of the Year Twice.
Two different organizations have named Taurus International as Manufacturer of the Year for 2001, adding to the triple crown started in May 2000 when Taurus garnered the coveted Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence Award for Manufacturer of the Year. At that same 2000 ceremony in Charlotte, NC, Taurus was also awarded the Academy of Excellence Award for Handgun of the Year.
In mid-November 2001, the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers presented Taurus with the honors at their annual gathering in Phoenix, AZ. The NASGW award is decided by the wholesalers and distributors who are an essential part of the Taurus family, and it is a great honor to be recognized by our customers for our efforts.
Then in February, at the 2002 State of the Industry presentation, SHOT Business Magazine and the National Shooting Sports Foundation recognized Taurus with their Manufacturer of the Year award, which was decided by an open-to-the-shooting-public vote on the NSSF web site. For the team at Taurus there can be no greater honor than being selected by the shooting community for this honor.
On hand to accept the award from SHOT Business publisher Kevin Steele was Jorge Velloso, Director of Forjas Taurus and Bob Morrison, Taurus International Executive VP.
In addition, Taurus Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Bob Morrison was honored by the shooting community with the Industry Man of the Year award. In his brief remarks accepting the award,
Bob reminded the audience of the oath he took on his first day as a cadet at the US Military Academy at West Point and asked all to reaffirm that oath with him on behalf of the entire industry, recommitting all of us to preserve, protect and defend our Constitution and all of the rights it grants us. Fitting words for these times. Earlier in the day at the Taurus booth, Bob Morrison took a moment to recognize a man who has dedicated a large part of his life to the shooting sports. At the traditional Taurus opening press conference, Bob presented retiring NSSF president Bob Delfay with a customized Taurus Raging Bull in 454 Casull in a custom made solid wood box with an ivory clad Taurus Security System key. The gun was Taurus' way of thanking Mr. Delfay for his more than 30 years of service to the industry and 15 years at the helm of the NSSF.
