I have a GI model, and was wondering if steel case ammo is ok for it

Shoot all you want, it won't hurt anything except my feelings when I have to sift through it at the range while scavenging for good brass to reload.

It will wear out your gun faster.
By that I mean that because the ammo is cheaper you will be able to shoot more thus wearing out your gun more quickly.

you will be fine, i went through 800rds of it in a 2.5 hours of training in my sa 1911, with no issues.
