About how long does it take for Springfield to actually send out the pistols that have been ordered?

I know that the market's crazy and that there's a lot of demand, I'm not expecting anything miraculous by any means.

I ordered my Loaded, Parkerized with N/S about 2 weeks ago, I'm just wondering about how long I have until I should expect the 1911 to arrive at my shop.

I think it would be quite awhile.

We just received an EMP in 40 cal that was ordered January 08

I've heard 4-6 months.  Best bet is to email Springfield or give them a call, I'm sure they can give you a status/timeline.

Got a question, did they charge you right away or will they charge you when it hits production?  Just wondering.

I paid 20% of the overall pistol (tax included already) to special order the 1911.

Correct or not I was told they wait to get a certain amount of orders for a particular model before they run that production line.  I was looking for a Champion Operator and the dealer said he is still waiting on some springer 1911 models since late 08.  I wasn't going to wait that long, I found a dealer on GunsAmerica with it in stock.

Wait, you can special order directly from Springfield?

I don't think so...

I ordered through my local fun shop.

Its 9-11 months right now. I just received a custom gun from them after a full 10 month wait (almost started the 11 month). I was told 9 months when I ordered it, so it went just slightly over that.

How could it be taking that long for them to make a new [production level] pistol? They really need to ramp up their production, waiting a year is ridiculous!

Would I be in the wrong to just go and find the same 1911 somewhere else and get my money back?

I'm not sure I have the patience to wait for 9-11 months.

They probably don't want to invest in more equipment and employees.  If that's the case, I can't say that I fault them - what would they do a year from now when demand might be back to pre-election levels?

See if you find something you like on GB or GA.  I just looked on GA, and there are 60 Springfield 1911s listed.

Email response from Springfield
We would quote around 6 months for delivery on any 1911 order placed.

That's what I did late last year. I went to two different dealers and they literally laughed at me when I asked about ordering a Loaded. So I laughed at them when I took my business to a shop 2 hours away in the burbs of Chicago that had them sitting on the shelf. I actually bought 2 of them so their arrogance cost them transfer fees at the very least.

I suppose it would be a little different in your situation, but time is money and it's your time you'd be wasting by waiting for Springfield to build it.

Lol, sorry. The second one is waiting for my younger brother to get back from Afghanny-land. He might have something to say about it!
