| I have a chance to buy this gun locally, its in 45ACP, guy says its unfired, comes with everything from the factory as well as 300rds of 230gr WWB and 40rds of defense ammo 20 being Winchester PDX and a leather holster, guy wants $700 for it all, should I jump or let it slide?? anyone with any experience with the RO commander?? |

If it is truly unfired and comes with all that, it is a bargain. The Police Discount price is $688 for the gun and two mags.
A buddy has one and has run probably 700 of his mid power reloads through it. He loves it and it runs with both his Wilson and Checkmate mags. I do not think he has tried any HP ammo though. |
| They make a RO Champion, which is Springfields version of the commander. It is a 4" rather than the normal 4.25" barrel, but full size frame. I had one that I recently sold. It was a good pistol, I just didnt shoot it much. Sounds like a good deal. I sold mine for $700 without extras, and you are looking at about $100 in just ammo with that deal. |
| Didn't buy it, after several E-Mails with the guy and him saying it was unfired numerous times I show up to look at the gun and it had obviously been shot, when I said that he didn't argue a bit, I asked if he could adjust the price and he was unwilling so I decided against it. |

Springfield makes the range officer compact and champion, the only difference is one has a officer and the other has a full-size frame.
If you want the full-size frame, I would get the champion operator instead which has a rail. If you're insisting on the range officer family, I would get the range officer compact. |
