Is there a drop in barrel bushing replacement for a Springfield RO that does not require any fitting?

Measure slide barrel I.D.
Measure Barrel O.D.

Go to EGW website ,enter measurements and place your order.

I have a Springfield Armory stainless barrel bushing that came off a .45 ACP Mil-Spec, don't think I even fired the gun with it on there.

If I can dig it up and you're interested it's yours, but this is probably only good for you if you're trying to replace one that got messed up and not trying to accurize.

ETA: For what it's worth you can get semi drop-in bushings and they are easy to fit by hand with a file and a bit of sandpaper.  Once you're done clean it up, degrease it, cold blue the bare spots, rinse in water, dry, oil, and go!

Found a Springfield Govt .45 barrel bushing at Midway. 12 bucks, hope it fits. Thanks.

Generally they will but not very tight and accuracy will suffer sometimes.  The barrel bushing fit is part of the key points for accuracy in a 1911.

Did you lose yours?  What are you looking for?

Its banged up a little. I know it ads character. Thing is, don't mind if my Glocks have character, I want this gun ( Stainless Range Officer .45 ) kept nice.

I think SA actually fits them on the RO, so you would likely lose some accuracy with the one from Midway.

SA could probably help you out or take measurements with some calipers and order one from EGW.

A few touches with a file and a light bead blast would probably make yours look new again unless it's really bad.

I am by no means attempting to highjack this thread, but i have a related question.

i assume that when buying a threaded barrel for my RO, i should purchase one that comes with a bushing to maintain accuracy, right?

First post nails it.

I had EGW cut one for my bullseye gun. It fit with no fitting, is tight as hell, and can still shoot.
If at some point you do go this route, do your measurements multiple times and average the numbers.

Yes for the RO the bushing/barrel and slide/frame are matched, that's why they shoot so nice right out of the box.

Cleaned up the factory bushing with some 800 grit and oil. Took the nicks right out. Sanded in one direction on a flat surface. Followed the existing grain patern. Looks good as new. Thanks.

So the Springfield Govt 45 barrel bushing arrived in the mail yesterday(ordered from Midway). I ordered this for my Range Officer. It seems to fit exactly the same as the bushing that came with the gun. Should it be just as accurate? Just like the factory bushing that came with the gun it is not really tight but there is very little, if any play when the gun is in battery. Thanks.
