Springfield made some LongBeach operator 1911's a few years ago. What made these so desirable ? Is the TRP better??

It is desirable because it is an all black operator with a std barrel bushing setup and fixed sights over the TRP's bull barrel and adjustable sights.

I cannot speak for the operator's but the TRP's fit and finish is better than a std loaded model. The MC and LB Op's are considered in the loaded category but are generally spoken of as fit very nicely. One place I always knock Springfield on is anything under the TRP line most likely will have the extractor not blended to the slide. It is cosmetic but something that wouldn't take much time to blend and make it look better.

The TRP and the TRP OP have features that I don't care for and if I do end up getting a railed 1911 it will either be a Loaded (Long Beach) Operator or DW specialist.

Part of the reason they were so desirable in the past was that they were made in small numbers, and they were pretty tough to find.  They are a cataloged item now, so they will be readily available.  The LB is pretty similar to the MC Operator, but has a black frame and a mag well, and different grips.
