I'm looking to purchase a Springfield Hi-Cap 1911 and wanted to see if anyone has any experience with them.  I am not a purist and don't want to hear about any 1911 that holds more than 7-8 rounds is not a 1911.  I would like to know how it differs from the 7-8 round models; I am assuming it is a double stack over a single stack mag.  If so, are mags avab or will standard mags fit into it or am I just better off getting a standard model?  Any + or - about them would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

the springer will use para mags.

I cracked 2 frames Sold the gun on its 3rd frame. Sprinfield will fix the frame.

If you want a high cap 45 I would strongly sugest you save for a 45 built on a STI frame.

I have a RIA high cap, pretty nice overall & accurate, only around $400 retail. Mags are of nice Italian quality, but the mag springs suck. Put some Wolf 10%+ replacements in them, this is also true of factory Para-ords, SA's...etc.

Where did the frames crack?  At the slide stop hole, or somewhere else?

Left side mag well, rear, near plunger tube assy. Both times same place.  Only 230 FMJ, PMC, AE, Blazer was sent down range.
When the pistol was sent back to me the last time SA fit a new SS barrel, Never did fire it just gave it back to the GS for some Dillion Gear.

Best trade I ever made.
