| Tell me about this gun. i found a used one at the local gun shop for $550. it's stainless and has an alloy frame. on the frame, it has "BRAZIL" stamped after the regular springfield info. i was looking for a kimber to be used for carry, but this has a nice price tag. |

I'm looking at one also. I'm a little West of you...and a bit North, so it's not the same gun. About the same price though. Apparantly Springfield does not make these anymore. I've been looking for info on them also but haven't turned up much in the way of other people's experiences or likes/dislikes. I've seen ALOT of good comments on Springfield 1911's though. Some folks seem to have a few problems with the smaller micro and subcompact models, some of which are easily taken care of. The one I'm looking at is $500 and looks real nice (taken care of well, that is). Hope someone can give you more than what I did...a little chicken scratch if that much |

The Frames and the Slides are Forged parts From Brazil with fitting and and construction of the gun here in the US!!! They are comparable in strength to the kimber's forged parts so don't let that worry you!! If it's any consolation the parts are forged by FABRICA IMBEL hence the initials FI, you know the name they make FAL's for south american militaries and are the basis for most of the parts guns built into FAL's here in the US!!! Believe it or not very few makers use any cast parts in their 1911 handguns. BTW, for all the bluster about Kimbers, Smith and Wesson forges all their parts!!! So if you really want a Kimber you could just buy a Smith and Wesson 1911 and save 100 or so dollars there!! |
