So I got a line on a Springfield loaded. The guy is asking $600 and supposedly never fired. I couldn't find any for sale on gunbroker right now, so I came here to see what you guys thought. This will be my first 1911, and only second all together. My other is a HK USP .40. So how good or bad is this gun, and is $600 a good deal, or should I try and Jew him some?

Reasonable price if the pistol is in the condition described. Not a steal by any means. How old is the pistol? How much life left in those night sights?

Supposedly less than a year old. I'll get to check it out tomorrow. Anything I should be checking for?

If it's like new then that is a steal. they are selling for almost 900.00 where I am at. Check for a SN# that starts with NM as they are fitted in the US and fit/finish is usually superior to the N's. Night sights are a bonus as well.

Just found out the sn starts with N only. So is it still worth the buy?

Okay, I forgot to adjust for inflation.

I'm thinking of when I bought mine "new" back in 2005-06 (can't remember, damn) and it was $700 cash. I see them going for that amount used so I guess $600 is a pretty good deal from that perspective.

The cheapest you'll find a new one is likely going to be $750.

If it truely is unfired, it's a steal. I bought a Loaded new in 2008 for $759 + Tax. I bought a used Loaded (roughly 10 years old at the time) a couple months later for $625 shipped.

Well I got to check it out today. VERY clean. It has had a few rounds fired through it. Not many though. No idiot scratch or anything major. Just some wear marks on the trigger and chamer. It is definitely a "N" SN model. It says "assembled in brazil" on the slide. Don't like that necessarily... Does that hurt the resale value of it any? And why in the hell is there two different models. With one being assembled in the USA and the other in brazil. Wtf, over?

That's your typical N-marked Springfield Loaded. Springfield outsources most of their manufacturing, but they still manufacture roughly 10,000 pistols in Geneseo every year. They mark those with Made in Geneseo and put an NM in front of the serial number.

Don't worry about the resale value. 10 years from now, that will still be a $500-$550 pistol.
