S&W is announcing a new product on the 11th. The question is, what is it.

Gee, I wonder if it will be a striker fired 9mm?

Hammer fired .357 SIG.

Striker fired 9mm. trying to compete with Glock
|
|
|
|
The Gladius (short sword) makes me think something a little smaller, and I am thinking it could be a Staccato CS competitor. I donāt think itāll be an SA35 shorty because of the name difference, but I could be wrong.
It could also be a Sig Spear competitor.. |

Are you not entertained?!

I'll be at one of the into events in two Saturdays. I'm curious if it will be worth the drive.
I'm just hoping it works better than the Prodigy they let me (attempt to) shoot at their last event. |

Someone shared an image of it in the thread about it in GD:
https://www.ar15.com/forums/general/Springfield-Armory-new-firearm-release/5-2655606/&page=5&anc=104853852 Full-size gun at least modeled in part after the Hellcat with a removable fire control unit like Sig P320ās. |
|
|
|
Looks like a sig P320 with interchangeable back straps and trigger safety.

No grip zone!

The frame protrusion around the mag release seems awkward to me.

Will buy one.

SA version of a P320. Looks to be modular chassis.

Actually looks pretty cool. No gripzone.
Optic mounting system looks pretty cool and well engineered too. And still a better name than Hellion |

Wow, that looks pretty nice actually. The optic system is a nice touch.

It kind of makes me think a bit of the VP-9 or Walther PDP. The universal RD mounting system is the Boss. I do wonder when SA will make a pistol which gains adoption in LEO circles?? |
|
|
It's a rip off of Sig.

I am saddened by your plight. Allow me to offer my deepest and sincerest condolence. However, I do not have the Chaplainās duty and I am short of towels. Please see the Captain of the Head for material for drying your eyes.

I think this thing looks pretty great-- I especially like how the grip modules actually come in different sizes for different sized hands and those slide serrations. I wonder if a 10mm could be in the future or if this is just a 9mm platform.
Alas, I probably would have bought this instead of an XDM, but I don't need another polymer 9mm. |

So ... instead of keeping with XDm mags (which are one of the best in the business) ... affordable ...
Springfield goes on and introduces a Echelon mag ... HOW STUPID ... if you wanted XDM dudes and gals to switch ... should have made it XDM mag compatible ... I'm out Springfield ... good looking and promising gun but you kind of screwed up in the mag department ... |

Looks identical to the Beretta APX. Not that itās a bad thing.

I played with one today, I work for a distributor. Nice pistol with a good trigger/short reset. Slide feels great the way they cut it. Very comfy grip with great texture. Should be a winner for them.

Picked mine up today. Pointed great and the trigger is the best factory trigger Iāve felt. Looking forward to spending some time behind it this weekend.

Boring
I like my plastic pistols but Iām burned out on them |

I sold a LOT of these today in a otherwise pretty slow gun market.

The issue of magazine compatibility is really not as big an issue as one thinks it is. Look at FN, Beretta, SIG, HK, S&W, and even Ruger. They all come out with new shit that is compatible with the old stuff. Hell, the goal of a manufacturer is to get folks to buy a new product and all the new ancillary components to it.

|
My reliability concern is the ten holes for the optics mounting in the thinnest part of the slide.
