Has the trigger improved on the no thumb safety Shields?
I've only shot an early Shield.
Trigger was mushy with no tactile reset.

I think so. The last one I bought had a decent out of the box trigger. I didn't shoot it low left either.

Yes.  Trigger was fine, but a bit heavy.

So, I installed the Apex kit.  Reset on the Shield is still better than my May 2012 full size with the Apex D/CAEK and RAM.

I have a new no safety shield 9mm. I've never shot any other M&Ps to compare but my example has a great trigger imo. Yes it's heavy but has short take up, and a crisp break. Very audible reset. Feels like to me about 7#. But I'm ok with that, it's a defensive gun not a range/bullseye gun

Well, I got a no thumb safety Shield coming this week.
Got a holster on the way also.
I'm eyeballing some sights right now, Ameriglo Hackathorns are in the lead.

All of my Glocks have stock triggers, hopefully the Shield's won't bug me.

I like my shield trigger a bit better than the glock stock trigger for the same reasons. Really easy takeup and no creep before breaking. The reset is not as good as glock but its pretty good overall.

I'm still waiting for mine to get to my FFL.

I bought a Bladetech AIWB for it.
I can't wait to shoot it.

I think you'll like your shield. I was telling a friend of mine it's the only subcompact gun I've ever shot that shoots and feels like a full size gun under recoil. I just recently added talon rubber grips on mine just for added grip though it didn't move around hardly at all before

Well, Glock did not release a single stack 9...
So S&W got my money.

Still waiting though.

I'm quite disappointed Apex hasn't come out with the polymer AEK trigger for the Shield yet.

Finally got my Shield today. (After WI's retarded 48 hour waiting period)
Trigger is crappy, but not as bad as the early Shields.
The pre-travel is long, with a bit of grit towards the end.
The break is fairly heavy.
Heavier than my Glocks.

All in all, it is a nice little pistol, and disappears AIWB under just a T-shirt.

Im curious why you all favor the polymer trigger over the aluminum one. Is it the weight savings or the tactile feel of the polymer over aluminum? Is it simply cost?

For me it's primarily the cost. But I also think the polymer trigger looks better. Since there is no polymer version, it looks as if I will be giving the aluminum one a try.

I like the curved edges the polymer variant has.

Cost for me. I think $75 for the trigger alone is crazy.

Three of my M&Ps have the APEX M&P Polymer Forward Set Sear and Trigger Kit, (the .45 is waiting for an updated sear housing to install).  Patiently waiting for the Shield kit with a polymer trigger.

This.  I much prefer the feel of the poly trigger and have them in all of my M&Ps... except for the Shield.

I picked up a new 'no safety' Shield in 9mm on Sunday and took it to the range today. I only put 50 rds thru it but it performed flawlessly and was surprised how little recoil I experienced. As another poster commented, it shot like a full size gun. The trigger was a tad heavier than my Glocks (and I have several), but it was not that noticeable. I have fired several M&P and Sigma pistols and was expecting a horrible trigger needing immediate replacemen with an Apex kitt, but I'm tempted to just shine this up and call it good. It really is not that heavy compared to my several Glocks.
Regarding concealability, it's currently sitting in a kydex IWB and is super comfortable. I haven't ran defensive loads thru this yet but have enjoyed the way it feels walking around the house. My next range trip will likely include a lot more FMJ and then some carry ammo. I really like the way this feels and want to be comfortable with it as a possible replacement CCW. I've been carrying a G19 for the 15+ yrs but have been leaning to a single stack. Very impressed thus far with the Shield.
Sorry, Glock. I'm afraid that G43 came too late and with too few rounds.

Update: I installed the Apex Carry Kit and it has made a huge difference. Much lighter trigger and a noticeable increase in accuracy on the range. I have run 147gr HST, 147gr RA9T, and 115gr DPX thru it without any issue. I also added Trijicon sights to it and a Talon wrap around rubber grip. I am thus far very pleased with the results.

I bought the Apex carry kit with trigger from ineedmoregear. It's a great kit and the trigger is very nice. I'm a believer in Apex gear. I installed the polymer FSS kit in my compact, as well. That is a scary trigger; no take up - just a break and reset to the original position.

Good to hear. I just picked up a Shield this afternoon and the first thing I did when I got home is order the Apex trigger kit from the same place. I was hoping for a 45c but they didn't have either of the compacts.

That is almost exactly what I have done with my EDC Shield.  Apex kit, Talon wrap ( amazing what that does for the handling) but I need to get some night sights for mine still.

You using the Trijicon HD?

Yes, went with Trijicon, orange front sight. I also added a Pierce pinky finger mag extension to the 7-rounder and have much better control.
