I run a 2-7 power on my MkIII Hunter.
Back in the early '80s had built a 10" barrel Ruger standard, that would shoot 1/2" 50 yard groups from a rest (my knees), using an old Redfield 2-power pistol scope.
Put a lot of small game meat on the table with it.

2X on my High Standard is good for hitting paint balls at 25 yards with CCI SV.
I need a rest to do it, but the pistol is entirely capable.

I used to have a 2x Nikon on a High Standard 107 Victor as shown below but eventually replaced it with an Ultradot.  I prefer the Ultradot as they are parallax free, offer different reticle sizes and are easy to adjust for windage and elevation.

Who makes an illuminated 2x pistol scope for nighttime sniping?

I’m not sure if anyone does.

I put a Burris 2X on my Mark III to try on squirrels.  Previously I used a RDS on the Mark III.

Here’s my observations:

If I have some sort of a rest the 2X can provide more accuracy out past 15ish yards.

But in the field, the need for a rest, plus the extremely tight eye box on all pistol optics, meant it was a PITA to acquire squirrels at times.

I felt I would rather have a RDS and use my pistol like I always did in the past - for close shots of opportunity.  If I wanted to reach out, I much preferred a 10/22 with a decent 2-8 scope set around 4X.

Just my observations, and YMMV.

Here’s my setup, before I went to RDS on the Mark III:

I initially had the Burris 2X on the GP-100, but I went to a RDS on it for similar reasons. With a rest, I can shoot with hunting accuracy out to 50ish yards using a RDS.  The 2X s pie let’s me shoot smaller .357 groups, but the RDS is so much faster on target acquisition.

I ran a fixed 4X scope on my S&W 41 for a long time. I was making all sorts of crazy shots out to 80-100 yards with it. I was shooting from a bag & the 41 is clearly known for accuracy.

I no longer have the 41 (sadly), but were I wanting to scope a .22 pistol now I'd do a Buckmark Camper. Bull bbl for accuracy, threaded bbl if you have a can & Hi-Viz front sight for my old 64 year old eyes.

Buckmark Camper

As for illuminated scope, I think Trijicon is the only one doing that? $$$$$

There are some battery powered scopes by Osprey but I don't know if it's too big for what you want?   Osprey 1-10x24
