I have a chief's special .38.  Its 28 years old in great condition.  This year it has developed some rust on the barrels exterior.  I cleaned it with some inhibitor and ooo steel wool.  It is very minor piting, but it keeps comming back.  Anyone have any ideas on how to stop it for good or another product. It is blue and I would like to keep its original color.

Take it to a good smith... have him strip and reblue the whole thing. Its not expensive.

We have had a lot of success with restorations on revolvers. Of course a lot depends on the type of damage to the gun from rust and/or pitts. In general, restorations are a specialty and we can blue overnight is necessary.
