Hello folks,

Are there any smaller CCW pistols which have 1911-like SA triggers? I know I should look at compact 1911s but I'm not sure if they are as reliable as the standard 5" ones.

I would like to get a smaller pistol than my standard Kimber but I just can't seem to get used to anyother trigger these days.

There is no handgun that has a trigger like a 1911 other than, of course a 1911.

You can get a glock 19 and put in a Ghost 3.5lb. connector. It shortens trigger travel by 60%

The only gun that has a similar trigger pull to a 1911 to me is a HK P7.

My USP 9mm with the match trigger is pretty darn close. Unfortunately, you can't put the match trigger into the USP compacts.

+1 on that. I alternate between a 1911 and a P7 because the triggers are very close in feel.

I know a lot of CZ models take their competition hammer and SA trigger.  I've never felt it, but if someone has, please share.

I don't know about the trigger issue, but my experiances have lead me to believe that the compact 1911's are less reliable.

HK P9S in single action.

Trigger pull is 2 or 3 pounds. Target trigger is better.

Hk P7 is a very nice 3 pounds.

I also like my SIG P220 in single action.

There's still plenty of Star BM's floating around, and they're very 1911-ish, but a little smaller and in 9x19.  I just saw at least 6 of them on Gunbroker for under $200.  Most of the big wholesalers don't seem to have them anymore, though.

You could always look to the Colt Mustangs if you don't mind a .380... a little pricey and harder to find, but plenty of them out there.

If you can find a Colt 1908 .380 in good shape, that would be a decent choice also... although something older like that may not like JHP's.  I've never owned one, and maybe someone that does could say for sure.

Most of the good choices in this regard have been out of production for at least a few years.  You should be fine on the reliability front... just replace the mag and recoil springs.

Luger P-08

If you do not mind the small caliber, the gun has a sweet trigger. In fact, it is better than my Kimber Warrior.
