So I have put close to 1000 rounds in my RO and I am reading to change it up some.
In this LINK the OP mentions replacing some MIM parts which results in a light trigger pull. Does anoyone know if thats actually true? Looks like he changed the hammer, MSH and parts, leaf spring, and sear? Also Im having trouble finding the correct height of the front sight. I am leaning towards a gold bead. Any recommendations? Thanks, Jester |

I don't think it matters whether it is MIM or not. It most likely depends on the quality and fit of the parts. Contrary to what some might say, there are well made MIM parts. Changing the parts you listed will help reduce the trigger pull.
I swapped out parts on a beat up 1911 I just bought with old MIM parts from another gun and it made the trigger feel 100x better not to mention the rest of the gun. |
| The spec trigger pull on an RO is 5-6lbs. SA will do a trigger job with the existing MIM parts down to 4lbs for around $80. If you want less than that, the price jumps to around $215 because they change the sear, and hammer to wrought parts. Clearly, SA feels that there's a difference between MIM and forged. Whether the MIM parts are too hard, or aren't hard enough, or whetever, I haven't a clue. |

Have your smith install a gold bead on the existing RO front sight. The sight will have to be removed to drill the hole in the post but yat shouldn't be an issue.
In my opinion the top of the bead should be flush with the top of the post, although not everyone does it that way. I have beads on three of my 1911s and that number will increase. |
| My RO already had an excellent trigger out of the box,BUT I installed a Wilson Speed Chute simply because I prefer a mag well and in doing so replaced the mainspring with a 15# spring and now it's a very nice 3.5lb trigger with all other parts stock. Replace mim parts.? Why.? I have never seen a need to do this and MIM parts are extremely better than they were 25-30 years ago. I personally have never been able to hurt or wear one out. I replaced my front sight with a direct white dot replacement from Springfield which also included a new pin, then drilled a same sized detent (whole) in my factory adjustable rear sight and filled it with white paint, now have an excellent, easy to see sight system which allows a LOT faster sight acquisition when using the gun in IDPA. It replicates the Heini straight eight sight picture yet still allows me to take calculated slow fire precision shots which is more what those factory sights were designed for. |

My Ro came with an excellent trigger from day 1 also, started out 3# 12 oz and with a little polishing it's now 3# 4oz.
You need to read up on how to adjust the sear spring on your RO. Nothing more than a simple spring adjustment will take #’s off of the trigger pull. |
