I was asked by a co-worker who knows I shoot, and they wanted to know how good are Auto-ordinance 1911's?

I don't know enough about them to give a good answer so I humbly ask the hive mind.

They are on the low end, but not the worst out there.  When they work, they make good truck guns.  I've even seen some nice customized ones.  They are usually out of spec in a few key areas, but can usually be made to work if they are unreliable.  By the time you pay the money to get a non reliable one to work, you can easily afford a much better gun.  For only a little more, you can get a Springfield, which at least has a very good frame and slide.
