I've got a mostly stock SA TRP Armory Kote (replaced the full-length guide rod with Ed Brown standard guide rod and plug). It's not a safe queen by any means and reliability is crucial for me. I'm not crazy about the standard trigger and I've considered adding a 10-8 solid trigger. Would you recommend the curved or flat model? How hard are these to install? I'm new to 1911 customization, but I'm pretty handy.
Last, the standard fixed tritium night sights aren't bad, but I've considered adding a different set, possibly Heinie, 10-8, or TFO's. Any recommendations? At work, so no pics of TRP now. |
| Lot of people like the 10-8 straight trigger and other straight triggers in general. Also lots like the curved trigger. I prefer the curved trigger. Not hard to install them but you will need to detail strip your gun to do it. Have you ever done it before? Also it may require some fitting to get it to fit right. |

Never done a full detail strip on a 1911. I've built done AR builds but never a 1911. If this is something that just requires patience and following instructions, watching videos, etc. on the process, I would feel comfortable doing it.
Thanks for the response. I'm going to try and find a few videos on this to see if it's something I may be able to do, knowing my abilities. |

Thanks for the input on this.
I know I can't do the sights myself, but should I stick with the stock ones or switch to something else. I like the looks of the Heinie Straight 8 Slantpro with tritium. However, I've never used straight 8's and I'm hesitant to take the plunge. I have used the standard sights on an XDM with a solid black serrated rear with white dot up front. I've found it quick to acquire a sight picture. Will TFO's hold up to the rigors of use or are they more a competition type sight? I'm going to give the trigger a try. Thanks for the help. |

I have TFO's on my G30 and it's been slung all over with no damage to the sights. They are very good sights, very bright in daylight, very bright at night. They are however, ugly.
I have Heinie eights on a couple of my pistols, but I find the traditional 3 dot work better for me. YMM of course V |
