I just received my replacement Ed Brown MSH and tried to swap it into my full size CDP. But when I try to reassemble, the grip safety plunger sticks out too far from the frame to put the slide on. I looked at the new MSH and the old MSH and it seems that the very top "shelf" is curved in on the EB and out on the Kimber. It seems that this tiny difference is keeping the grip safety from returning far enough out to drop that plunger out of the way of the slide. I ordered the part from Midway, where past customer reviews said it was compatible.
Is it possible I got an out of spec part? Or am I doing something wrong? I've done this dozens of times and never had this problem. What a PITA. |
| Nothing is always 100% drop fit with the 1911. You're going to have to file the MSH where the grip safety feet meet the MSH...take your time and keep fitting it to the frame to make sure you're Swartz safety plunger is activated and moving freely. Nor really a big deal. You can test the firing pin by inserting a pencil into the barrel and seeing if it launches when you pull the trigger. MAKE SURE THE GUN IS UNLOADED BEFORE ANY WORK. |
