I went to my LGS Sunday looking for an Sig-556 pistol, another AR, or maybe an M1A. They didn't have the SIG or any M1As (they normally have like 5 in stock). So, I checked out HK Tacticals, and eyeballed some shotguns.
And then my dumbass wandered over to the Springfield handguns. They had a regular Operator and a lightweight Operator (I was carrying my LW Operator at the time), and a pair of TRP, one stainless, and the other was black Armory Kote. A 1911A1 was pretty much last on my current "gotta have it" list, as I already have 4 others. But, I asked to check it out for shits and giggles, because I wanted to pick up a more high-end 1911A1 at some time, and TRPs fit my needs. It took maybe a minute to decide to buy the Armory Kote version.
Got it home, loaded up 13 mags for 96 rounds of FMJ, lubed the hell out of it, and took it out back. It was worth every penny. It's definitely a better shooter than I am. It's will outshoot my LW Operator and just flat out embarrasses the accuracy of my regular Loaded model Springer. I need to adjust my sights a bit more on my Gold Cup National Match a bit, so I won't say I'm 100% sure the TRP is more accurate, but it probably is. Better accuracy than my HKs with the standard trigger. Plus my girlfriend is better with it than her G19 (and at a longer range).
The bad: The slide failed to lock back on one of the provided mags when empty. And I had a Stovepipe FTE on a Chip 10 rounder. But, I'm pretty sure the Operator has had problems with that mag also, so it's a range only mag.
It's going to replace both of the other Springers as my Old-School carry gun.
And apparently my phone takes crappy pictures in the basement.
And I apologize for not having the required pics of the girlfriend.
