I bought a P7 a few weeks ago and about to get another one. I was looking at some of the grade A's we had in stock at work today and noticed that there was an error with the serial # on the slide. The serial number was ##3## (I can't remember the other numbers) and it was obvious that there was a four underneath the three. It looks as though at the factory they messed up and put a 4 down first then went back over it with the number 3. So my question is, does this error make the gun more valuable? I'm getting the gun either way, I was just curious if this had been seen before.

Thanks in advance

Hard to say if it adds anything or not. When I've seen things that I wouldn't give a second glance to, some folks say it added $100 or more & things I thought should be value added didn't amount to squat.

I know coins & paper money add value with double stamping & the like, but you might have to show it to some gun show folks & get about 15-20 opinions on what they think?

You have a genuine divine error, I mean they are crafted by the hand of God you know

Personally, it wouldn't add any value and some might even shy away from it thinking the serial number has been altered. But some people will pay extra for anything different so you could probably find someone who will pay a premium for it. I wouldn't think more than $100 but what do I know.

I wouldn't be concerned personally, but I wouldn't want any issues from any LEOs who don't know any better. Hell, I've been a passenger in a routine traffic stop and the LEO said "I don't like guns"  after running my DL and CCW permit! It would have been wonderful if they asked me to disarm and then found I had a pistol with strange serial # stampings.

I guess this brings up the question: Would you ever use it for CCW, or would it be a range gun only?

It just means you have two guns.

Double the value.

I wouldn't wanna get caught with it. some LE are clueless about guns, and you know what I am talkin about.
