Every once in a while I see P7M8's for sale that have a section of the right side of the slide with a shallow milled area (to remove markings?). What is the history / significants of these mill cuts.

Thanks in advance

Police trade ins mabye.  And the milling removes some of the original makers marks.

There is another example of it here.

Yes, these were German police trade-ins. They also have a plum-colored slide to further ID them.

I bought one, it looked like it had only a few mags run thru it. Came complete with box, owners manual, extra mag(!) & cleaning brushes.

Damn fine deal, IMO.

Most of the P7's your are describing are PSP's  P7m8 is basicly an american version with the mag drop up near the slide  the PSP mag catch is at the heel of the gun and is considered a "european" gun The "plum" slide can appear on any P7 but is seen more often on the PSP.magazines are NOT routinely interchangable though a P7M8 mag can work in a PSP with some modifications
