picked this up today. I have fired a few 9mm <m-9, glocks and such> but this thing is sweeeeeet!!

Won't be a carry gun but it will be my truck and trail partner.

After having a 75BD for about two years, I just picked up a new 40B yesterday. Has the 1911 style handle. Went to the range today, wow... Used UMC 180 grain flat points, groups are fantastic... Total cost for 40B, two extra mags, shipping & ffl fee - $335.00. Checkout sale @ www.cdnninvestments.com. Need to download their 12mb catalog, on page 132.

took it out for a testdrive this afternoon.

Mike: You're big enough to conceal it. Why WON'T it be your carry piece? I can't think of a reason why not.

Good to see another addict.. And check out the price on high-caps :) They're great guns, just fit right and shoot dead on. Got mine (an excellent '94 pre-b) for $299 in NJ, where a square deal on a firearm can be haaard to find!

when i worked EMS in the 80's i watched way too many med to large frame thugs walk to my ambulance after getting hit with a 9mm.

I am a .45 shooter when it counts. Just my personal preference.

Hey, where are you guys sourcing out CZ75 9mm hi-caps?

I can't seem to find them anywhere, although I keep hearing they are cheap and plentiful.

cdnn has eaa witness hi caps for 6.95. According to the cz chatboards they work well.

Great choice - it's one of the best handguns ever made! Not high - tech, all steel but it's perfect for your needs I think.

range report

new out of box. scrubed down and relubed prior to firing.

First 50 rounds were a function test only using magtech 9mm ammo. All 50 function flawlesly. Recoil was mild. and shot roughly to point of aim. <magtech is crap for accuracy.>

Next were 200 rnds of various ammo. reloads with lead and fmj and a mix of winchester and UMC ammo. All fed 100% and accuracy was above average for me. i was firing at a rack of 6 inch knock down plates and had VERY few misses at 25 yrds. In almost every case the miss was my fault.

I know this insn't very technical but this was more of just a function test to see if it was going to be reliable. It passed 100%. This week i am working on some HP loads to see how it feeds them as well.

I am VERY pleased with it.

I found 15rnd mags on www.fourfourmag.com around $27 a pop. Not dirt cheap, but better'n glock hi-caps.

The .45ACP CZ-97B is a big honkin' pistol, but you might want to give one a test drive. As a 1911 man myself, I still appreciate a nice 9mm pistol.

Beer_Slayer, congrats on your CZ 75B. I understand that CZ's are addictive, so watch out lest you wind up with a bunch. I was saving my change for the same model, then stumbled on a CZ clone, a Jericho 941FB, and what a shooter it has turned out to be. Reliable and accurate and concealable, despite its weight. Makes me look better than I am. At the prices of the CZ's and CZ clones, this has to be the best buy out there. Shoots circles around my BHP with the factory trigger. Now I'm saving again and will try to hold out for a real CZ this time!
