I been thinking about sending my Springfield for some custom work at Nighthawk.

My question is, will they do work on a non-nighthawk pistol?

I'd like them to do the Black Diamond finish, on my currently parkerized Loaded 1911, as well as swap parts and install a new made in US frame.

Is this accomplishable?

They are a splinter cell of Wilson Combat (no judgment there, just a declaration) and I would suspect that competing with WC = products AND services comparable. The best way to find out is to ask, but I suspect the answer is yes. One aside, however...

Black Diamond is a few hundred on a Night Hawk as it is ($300, IIRC). A bare frame from WC is almost $400, (so I would assume comparable price), parts that you will need and that you must get (or you would kick yourself over skipping, i.e. trigger work) are going to be @$250, and NEITHER the frame NOR the parts have the fitting price factored into that.

Cost of the Springfield
+ Black Diamond
+ Cost of the frame
+ Cost of the parts
+ Cost of the fitting
= A few $$$ off the NH you really want but won't get with this.

By all means, entertain your morbid curiosity and make your inquiry with NH, but this SHOULD run you more than $1,500 when you factor in the purchase price of the Springer. If you save your pennies and factor in the extra couple of hundred for the NH or more affordable semi custom, you will be miles ahead of the curve with one extra 1911 to spare. In the end you should really appreciate the workmanship but you will see how badly this misses the mark: No slide/rollmarks, no warranty (outside of work covered), very sketchy resale (unless you have papers to prove that "Renaldo Nighthawk" did it all himself). In turn you will end up getting a NH or another semi custom, and the Springer will be a very expensive obscurity.

I wouldn't bother with anything more than a few drop-ins and a reliability package at the most affordable and reputable smith you could find, unless this gun had some amazing sentimental value (in which case, guys like Chuck, Bob, or Ted/Jason over here should have a crack at it). That's my $.02 that might save you $$$$$$$ in money doing something over for complete satisfaction. IMO, stock Springer + NIB Baer/RRA or LNIB Wilson > than one "FrankenHawk". YMMV.

Ah, you're right.

I'll just get a GRP when I'm ready.

Thanks.
