I had decided before I came back to the states to get myself a Springfield GI, to build myself a sort of commemorative gun for my tours in Korea. I finally got around to picking up the gun today.

What else will you be doing to this pistol?  Anything neat not seen?

Pondering some retro sights from Yo-Bo, a good trigger job, and Black-T.

Those are what I'm having done to mine right now. I'm also getting some warranty work done to remedy some FTF issues I'd been having.

Nice 2ID grips!  I checked out the website, but I didn't see anything indicating the pricing on custom military cuts.  Do you mind sharing what that cost?

They were about 100 bucks. Email them for pricing, you have to provide the artwork.

I think we have an EMP on the rental rack -- have her ask me Saturday. I will take it down and let her run a few rounds through it if she wants.

Took it out today, ran just fine, as expected. Wish I could post a thread about how it needs eleventy billion dollars of gunsmith time to be reliable.

Great!!  It's good to hear that at least some mass-producers can still make a good, good-looking, well-running 1911 that doesn't have any issues out-of-the-box.

Now, about that gunsmithing . . . send that champ off to Clark Custom (http://clarkcustomguns.com/) for their Hardball Conversion.  Then, get out there and start chasing Leg Points in those EIC matches!!
