I'm thinking about purchasing a sight set for my G17. My G23 has meprolight night sights and i'm not too fond of them. Mrs. HS1 loves them and since the G23 is now hers, I need some for my 17. They don't need to be tritium night sights, i'm just wondering what'll help me increase visibility and accuracy. What's out there and who makes it. Links are appreciated as well as personal testimony.
I just don't like the sight picture with the factory sights. So, who makes what you use on your Glock?

Fixed night sights, I'll ditto Trijicon.  For adjustables, get MMC.

I run a Heini Slant Pro fixed rear in solid black and  a Red fiber optic dot in front.

period.  Your choice as to whether you want tritium or not.  After years of only carrying 3-dot tritium guns, I'm sold on the solid black thing.

I have both Meprolights and Trijicons on my Glocks. I prefer the Meprolights. Better daytime sight picture, both are equally bright and the white rings do not wear away. Eight to ten years ago Meprolights sucked but they have improved a bunch.

Heinies rock! I have a regular (non tritium) set on my G34 I love how thin the front is compared to stock.  I HATE stock Glock sights they're way too damn wide in the front and too narrow in the back..

Heinie's look good in tritium. I've also been looking at a ghost ring rear in tritium. I know my factory sights really bother me. The factory front sight is just too chunky imho.

XS Express Sight Big Dot tritium. Extremely fast front sight acquisition. Great for self defense, CQB, run-n-gun etc but not so hot for extended ranges say past 20+ meters.

I have these on my Glock too... this statement is 100% accurate.

Trijicon, or Heinie.  Not a fan of the XS, but that's just me....

Trijicon.

I still have the original Trijicon Night Sights on my 14 year old G17. Sure, they aren't as bright as when I first got 'em, but I can still see them very clearly in low light conditions.

I must admit that my only experience with Meprolights was around the smae time as I got my Glock. I bought a SIG P220 with the Mep's on her and not only did they dim rather quickly, the front site shook loose after 1500 rounds. By loose I mean LOOSE sliding from side to side, Maybe I need to see what they have to offer now...still can you blame me for being a littlee biased towards Trijicon? LOL!

If you think the current front sight is too "chunky" you're not really going to find a night sight that's thinner.  I would suggest the heinie non-tritium sights.  Or, if you must have a dot, go with the hi-viz front post.  It's getting hugely popular with the IDPA crowd.  (speaking of which, how come we haven't seen you out at TSSA?).

The Heinie sights that are all black... I assume those are for target shooting only rather than substituting night sights?

I posted this above but it got swallowed.  I use a solid black Heinie and a HiViz front.  The HiViz comes with green and red in 3 different sizes you can swap out.

there are some folks that, after shooting at night, have found night sights to be awefully overrated.

all i have to say is fuck meprolight.  i tried to retighten my front sight and the damn "screw" sheared.  it really isn't any thicker than a paperclip though.

they are a foreign company and the sights are imported by kimber usa.  meprolight can't ship sights into the country or to me personally, so i need to talk with kimber.  i cannot get in touch with kimberusa and meprolight won't do it for me.

i bought my green/yellow nite sights from lonewolf in december and they won't help me either.  they told me that they also have a hard time getting in touch with kimberusa and that  i should keep trying.

This is the reason many Glock armorers use the red lock-tight (271 I think) on Glock front tritium sights that way it'll never come loose.

yeah.  i'd like to get some red loktite and shove it up someone's ass

I used blue, my front sight is still tight, I installed Trijicon's about 5 years and 10000 rounds ago.
