Why has Colt made the new model Pythons (and Anacondas) with such a heavy single action trigger? I’m not saying it should come from the factory at 3lbs, but 5.5-6 lbs is pretty hefty. The DA is much lighter than the competition, which is awesome, but we shooters like the single action too for target work.

I agree.. not sure. My new anaconda and python have heavier triggers than my new King Cobras. Honestly, the SA trigger in the King Cobra is better that guns costing twice

Colt's have to pass the silly drop tests in places like California.
The redesigned new type actions have to have some creep and more weight to pass getting dropped on concrete, and the much heavier Python and Anaconda hit a lot harder.

To get the best out of a new Colt, many people are sending them to Heffron Precision for a trigger job.
They come back with a BETTER trigger then the original Python.
