I have a friend that swears by his Charles Daly. I already have a Kimber and a Colt but I have been hearing good things about Rock Island .45's gunbroker has them for $275
www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=24120795

Springfield is good too.

If you can save up a little more the Kimber BP10 II can be had for $540 on Gunbroker.

I see used SA Mil Specs for $350 - $400 about once a month. Keep an eye out at your local gunshops.

charles daly field grade, comes in, full size, commander, and officer.  I bought a full size field grade for $400 new, with two mags and a hundred rounds of ammo.  It shoots great, and has dovetailed sights in the front and rear which is a plus over the mil spec.  Finish on it is great, barrel to bushing is tight, trigger is crisp and there is a small amount of play between slide and frame.  The only gripe I have right now is the grips, which will be changed soon and the trigger has a very small amount of creep, but it is just as good or better than the springfield mil spec that I have shot.  Hope this helps

I bought a springfield loaded for the same money...there's one in the EE now for a few dollars more...you'd have to be crazy to buy the CD new over a used springfield, I think.

So you think a used spring field would be better than the CD ?
The gun shop I deal with gets in used guns all the time . I just wish I could pick one up new before some one peckerd with it.
And I at least wont to be able to hit the 10 ring at 25 yards.
Is the long slide better than a standerd ?

Thanks for all the help guys !
when I get some thing I'm going to show it to you !

There's a used springfield loaded, base model, in the EE right now....I'm kinda sorta trying to buy it,to be honest.....but I haven't made a deal yet, am in no particular hurry to, and think it would probably be a FINE starter 1911 for someone........here.

If I hadn't bought 3 pistols in the last 3 weeks......

Still think ya' ought to buy my pistol. I'll work ya' a good deal on it and include all the parts that I replaced. Most were good parts, just wanted to install the entire kit. Talk to me pard. I need to get some cash to pick up a SP101 in 9mm for my wife. I'd rather sell at a loss to a fellow forum member then trade to a gun shop and have them make a profit on the deal.
