I just recieved my first Colt (and also my first 1911) for my 23rd Birthday. My dad bought his first pistol ( A Colt Series 70 stock with the satin nickel finish) on his 23rd birthday in 1978, and now he has passed the tradition on to my brothers and me.

The gun is SLIGHTLY used, it is a full-size series 80 M1991A1, parked, rosewood grips, extended safety, beavertail grip safety (no speed bump), a commander/skeleton-type hammer, regular trigger, regular recoil spring, speed magwell, it is serial number 27252** and on the for sale tag, it says M1991A1 LCW Custom Shop.

Does anyone know anything about this gun? I will try to get some pics up soon, hopefully by the end of the week. It feels good to finally put a Pony in the locker

Sounds like you got a nicely modified 1991 model. I bought my first Colt model 1991 (bone stock) some 15 years ago when they were first introduced. Nice handgun. Your dad is pretty cool. Don't ever sell it. Sounds like yours has some sentimental value; being your dad bought it and it's your first. Congratulations!!!!

Forgot to mention, 1991 model came in either SS or parkarized with black grips, no beavertail, plastic main-spring housing, and plastic trigger. Back then I don't think there was any metal injection molded parts. That is a plus!

Mine has never had a broken part with more than a few thousand rounds and all of the stock internal parts. You definitely got a good gun!
