I have a chance to get a SS Mil Spec pretty cheap and had a question for you guys.  How hard is it to put on new sights, new hammer, and new trigger?

Well, it greatly depends upon which sights and which hammer.

Depends if you want to get a Novak/Bomar cut and have sights installed or if you want to use the existing cuts.

The hammer and trigger are not difficult, just takes some understand of the pistol and a little patience.  Minor hand tools and a good 1911 manual should be all you need.

EDIT:  why are you changing the hammer?  If it's a "biting" issue you might want to just bob the hammer's tail.  I like Ed Brown, EGW and Cylinder & Slide parts.

I was going to try and go with wilson combat parts.  I didnt know if I can replace the rear sight and have it work with the stock front (front doesnt look to be dovetail cut).  I just like the look of the rounded hammer over the spur.

If you replace the spur with a Commander style hammer, you will have to replace or greatly modify the grip safety.

Is the commander the only round hammer?

Notice that I stated a commander style hammer. If you want a round hammer, you will have to replace or modify the grip safety.
