Does anyone have experience with Novak Mags?  If so Please provide pros/cons.  I think they look like Megars???  Also, I here ED Brown mags are the way to go if 7-rounds is your thing...any pros/cons?  I already have 2-Wilson Combat 47D's which are fine.  I ask because Novak mags seem to be all the rage right now.  Any info would be greatly appriciated, thanks.

Wilson, Novak, Ed Borwn and some others are better becase they have better "Feeders".  Basically, the followers on the factory mags/McCormicks too often let the round nose-dive, thus causing the gun to miss-feed.  Also, if you have an aluminum frame firearm the steel follwer on the Factory and especially the McCormick's can dig into the area just below the feed ramp.  The followers on the other brands are better supported and usually have more consistancy as far as spring tenssion.  I know Novak is a good/quality Co. but their mags are relatively new and I was curious as to their performance.  They're probably just as good as the others...hinking.gif

Who said Novak mags are all the rage?  I havent talked to anyone using them.

My choices would be:

Wilson 47Ds
Chip McCormick

Im waiting to try out Metalforms new high performance 1911 mags.

I use ACT/Novak SIG 220 mags and they work 100% in both my 220s.  They're a steal from Cope's at $20ea new.  The SIG GSRs come with Novaks, I know Cliffy109 has several Novaks and as far as I know they work 100% .  I prefer Wilson 1911 mags myself.  I do want to get a couple of the new Tripp mags to try as well.

My advice: buy more 47Ds

Midway currently has a sale for Wilson 47D mags, excellent price.

I have both Novak (nickel) & Tripp (stainless) 8 round magazines. Last night I was comparing the differences. The Novak's have the number of rounds marked on each side, along with the caliber on one side. The Tripp have none, but it does have sight holes. The Tripp has a hybrid follower which consists of a type of plastic and metal along the edge that makes contact with the magazine edge to reduce follower tilt. The Novak follower is made of steel which is rounded and does not tilt forward. The spring tension on the Tripp seems to be a little stronger vs. the Novak. The base plate on the Tripp seems easier to remove when compared to the Novak. The 8 round Tripp is just slightly longer than the Novak. The feed lip geometry is slightly different in both mags. The Novak has an angled indentation near the top of the magazine, which I believe aids in mag insertion. The Tripp does not. The Novak mag seems to be very slightly wider than the Tripp. The metal of the Tripp seems to be thicker. I've used both mags, and so far have had zero problems. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the info.  Myself, out of the ones that I have used I prefer Wilson 47D's.  I am still curious and will probably get a Novak to try out.  Metalform mags are also a wise choice.  My Kimber has been at Robar for about a month and should be here tomorrow so I hope to get some range time this weekend.
