My friends MK II, standard model and newer production I think, has a problem resetting the trigger.  The trigger will often travel until it stops without releasing the hammer on the first trigger pull, but on the second trigger pull the pistol functions fine.  You can hear and feel the trigger set on the second pull.

The pistol had some build up around the breech which I cleaned thoroughly.  I can replicate the problem about 70% of the time, so it is not consistent.  I changed some parts around and I could not duplicate the problem while using an upper from an older MK II that I have.

Any ideas?

Thank you

I had the same or similar thing happen to mine.  Check the disconnecter lever for any debris wedged bwtn it and the frame.  Check the disconnector plunger spring for debris and clean out.  Check to make sure the hammer bushing is smooth and doesn't have any raised areas. I don't know the mileage on your pistol but be sure there isn't any build up on the breech face, there by not allowing the bolt to go into full battery.  Disassemble and clean the ever living snot out of it.

Now on mine it end up  being that the disconnector lever was rubbing against the inside of the upper on the left side/ejection side of the frame edge.  But I have an after market Volquartsen LLV upper on mine.  Not saying it couldn't happen to yours.  Look for any funky shiney spot on the inside of the upper in the general area of where the back of the disconnector travels up wards.

At  www.guntalk-online.com  the moderator Bulleye assisted me for like 12 days until we found the issue on mine.  What I outlined above was some of his ideas to check as we conversed back and forth.

If I have helped you are welcome

+1 on all counts. Especially on moderator Bullseye from guntalk-online. He's good people.

One more place to look is the grip frame itself. Be sure that the rails are straight & true.

Some Ruger MKx owners have learned that they can tighten the upper-to-lower fit, (since many do become loose over time) by pinching the top (and center) of the frame together, ever so slightly. This works great, but only in moderation. If pinched too tightly, it will definitely interfere with the disconnect bar.

Your disconnect can also be bent enough to cause it to rub on the grip frame. Easy fix; simply bend it back to straight, or maybe even a few thousandths convex. I've seen two factory new MKxs with this problem and the remedy worked well on both.

Good luck.
