I'm sure this has been covered before, but my newbie search fu is weak. I have a new (internal extractor) Kimber Custom II with about 400 rounds through it so far.
When I insert a full 8 round magazine and depress the slide release, the round gets jammed up about halfway into the chamber. If I release the magazine, the slide goes into battery then reinsert magazine and all remaining rounds feed perfectly. I have been using Wilson #47D magazines and WWB 230grn. FMJ ammo. This also happened with the Kimber factory magazine.

Does it do it with say, 5 rds. in the mag?
Does it do it if you slingshot the slide?
Time for a new recoil spring?

I dunno, just some ideas...

Rack the slide back, don't use the release. Over time you will wear out the notch in the slide. Or so I have been warned all my life.

It could be several things, first I'd look at is the extractor tension. It may be a tad tight.

No, it only happens on the first round of a full 8 rd. magazine.

New recoil spring.

Check extractor tension.

Slingshot the slide and see if it does it then.

Can you tell where the round is getting hung up?  If you can take a picture of it, that might help.
