I have never been a 1911 style fan, but everyone I am around daily are 1911 people.

I finally caught the bug a decided to just submit.

So I wound up with a Kimber Custom CPD II What do ya'll think of my choice?

I like the TLE too.  Since this was my first 1911 I wanted one that was prettied up and good for carry.

I could not decide between the Eclipse and CDP, but one of my buddies convinced me the Eclipse's edges were too sharp for carry.  I think the Eclipse's finish is really nice looking.

I have put 100 rounds through mine.  I can't believe I waited until I was 42 to go 1911.

Also have the Custom CDP II and a TLE. MY wife lives the CDP II and I think has plans to liberate it from my possesion. I carry mine almost every day (carry TLE sometimes) and couldn't be happier with it.

Over 200 rounds of FMJ and JHP's.  Not a hiccup.  Shooting groups like I never have before!!!  I am talking tight!!!!

I am in love.

Ditto your experience with my new TLE!  I haven't shot a 1911 since my riverboat days in Nam '67/68.  I've been shooting .40S&W and 9mm since my military experience.  After shooting the TLE, I can't believe I waited so damn long to get back to 1911's.

My advise to anyone who has waited or procastinated on getting a Kimber 1911 is "DON'T WAIT!"  You will be foregoing a lot of shooting pleasure that the additional cost won't be worth!!

OK....500 rounds of various FMJ and HP ammo fed to her. I did not clean her at all.

I purchased 2 Wilson Mags. In the 350-400 round group, there was one FTF, with the Kimber mag. Tap-rack and bang. Wilson mags were perfect.

Rounds 450-500, one FTF with a Wilson mag. Tap rack and bang. No oil since round 200. (I know, I know, but I wanted to really torture test this thing).

Accuracy. I have been shooting since I was about 10, all handguns. I would say I shoot above average; however, I am far from being what I consider a great shooter.

This old girl is by far the easiest for me to shoot well. Double taps, 2 to the chest and one to the head are all good to go. Point shooting from 7 yards with very rapid double taps are no further than 2 1/2 inches apart. At 25 yards, head shots go right where I pick.

At ten yards I did a little test where I attempted to place as many rounds in the same hole as I could, without it being obvious it was more than one shot. Round 5 made the hole uneven!

I conceal this gun better then some 9's and it is light enough I forget about it on my waist.

I love this Kimber, and it will not be my last.

Glad to hear you're happy with that new Kimber.  I also wasn't really into the 1911 style guns until recently.  I went with the cheapest Kimber I could find, a Custom II with fixed sights.  Man, I LOVE this gun.  Now I want another with adjustable night sights.

I've also got about 500 rounds through mine and I haven't had a single problem yet.  I've even fed the gun some Winchster hollow points.

Now I wonder what kept me away from the 1911s.

All this talk about Kimbers....handled a buddies Ultra Carry I the other day and tried to talk him out of it to no avail.

Bought an Ultra Carry II w/nite sites today.  What a wonderful gun.  I am amazed by the accuracy of a 3" barrel!

Having carried a Glock 23 for the last few years off-duty, I found the Kimber easier to stick in the waist band (thin slide) and 2 oz lighter when both are fully loaded.  Very nice!

That's the model I have...it's a wee bit fussy so far concerning what ammo it likes (Winchester white box).
