I want to shoot bullseye and high round count drills in classes with the same gun. This leads me toward the FNX 45 with perhaps an improved trigger.  In my brief research I found Bill Springfield, who offers various trigger and accuracy packages. I know the gun would work fine in tactical style shooting, but would I be wasting my time trying to shoot bullseye matches?

It's a combat pistol not designed for precision matches. But if you've got the money I don't see why you couldn't upgrade the trigger and sights to make it work for you.

I feel like the FNX-45 would be a poor choice for bullseye shooting. It's a well made gun, but it would work in the same sense that a baseball bat can be a hammer. My FNX-45's trigger feels a bit...squishy? Like pressing a thick wet sponge. I don't know, I shoot it well, but really no better than any other regular defensive handgun. I'd think the USP Tactical would be better suited with its match trigger and adjustable target style sights.
