The hk45 I had bought second hand came with a new pair of tritium night sights already installed so I never had the need to use such a specialized tool. |

Thanks. seems like an easy to use tool. It's expensive, but all of my semi pistols are HK, so i think it's worth the investment.

A sight tool is definitely an investment. If you change out one guns sights, it almost pays for itself. There are other brands out there for half the cost or less of that HK sight tool that will serve you just as well. Check out the classifieds here,it's where I bought mine pretty cheap and it is a good tool and super easy to use. I have used it on many guns so far and a few friends guns.

I guess I'd just get the HK pusher. I bought a pusher labeled sight-tool.com off of eBay a bunch of years ago. it's worked well. The price of them now is stupid for what they are.

Best tool I've found I've done probably 30 different sets of sites with it, no problems yet. |

That one seems good as well, but more expensive and apparently you have to buy the “shoes” separately. |

6 inch vise, aluminum jaw covers, brass punch, tap tap tap. Maybe knife sharpening stone if you need to fit the sight to the slide dovetail. If too tight, rub on stone until it goes in about 1/4 way and hammer in the rest of the way. Watch Dawson Precision for good sight installation videos.

Depending on the model and the "rear sight shelf" the rear sight might not clear the bottom of the pusher. I had this issue while changing out the factory adjustable sights on my HK USP Elite and Experts. I ended up getting it started with teh pusher and then drifting it out the rest of the way with a brass punch. |

I just installed my iron sights on my HK45c after using the HK specific sight tool and it left some burrs around the front and rear sight. The front sight is worse than the rear.
Is this normal? Did I do something wrong? I watched a video and they didn't use lube, so i didn't either. Any ideas of how to avoid this in the future?

It shouldn't look like that at all, and as others have said .. the front post isn't centered in the slide.

The front sight is centered, it just looks off in that picture because of the lighting and camera angle.
I was trying to show the burrs on the sights. it was a really tight fit and I guess I should have used lube.

I asked our HK certified gunsmiths at work to change out my USP45 sights to the suppressor height ones, they used a hammer and punch.
I followed in their footsteps, every single HK handgun I own has got new sights by me with a hammer and a punch. easy, cheap and not complicated. |

I use a MGW Sight Pro. Most of the HK sights I've done need a couple passes with a file before installing.

Be careful what sight removal tool you use, I cracked the slide on my P30L taking off the rear sight. Tech at HK told me there is a steel insert that goes in the slide so it prevents that from happening
