| i have a 9mm browning hi power that was my dad gave to me . He had bought it years ago and had never used it. So i cleaned it and took it out to the range, and i found that it jammed twice out of every ten shots. and every bullet that jammed it left a small dent in the casing , i know that the bullets not feeding into the barrel properly, does anyone know how to fix that. thanks |

i think i have just the regular clips that came with the gun.i noticed that spring in the old mags seems really weak compared to the new mags i just bought. also i know the mags were left with bullets in them for a long time so that probably weakened the spring.
to answer your question how the cartridge is situated when it jams. it looks like the bullet comes halfway out of the magazine but does not go into the barrel fully and it also seems like it must be hitting something on the way from the magazine to the barrel because it leaves a dent on the casing |

Welcome to the site! What kind of mags are being used? How many rounds do you think have been fired through the gun? Possibly need some Browning or Mecgar mags with fresh mag springs and possibly a new recoil spring. How does the extractor look? I'd still be interested in the above... |

You came to the right place, you're going to be overloaded with great information here. First things first-
"bullet" refers more to the projectile than the whole cartridge. and, a couple pages of info about the springs in your magazines weakening. Don't worry about keeping them loaded. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BTT/is_163_27/ai_99130369/ Hope that doesn't all come off coarse, sincerely welcome to the site, and enjoy your HiPower, I love mine. |

Quoted: You sir are correct.I believe that Mec Gar is the supplier of BHP factory mags. Pete To OP, I strongly suggest another good cleaning and proper lubing of the rails. Do, as everyone else has suggested, try a different mag and different rounds. My Hi Powers run like clocks, as will yours. |

If you ever have BHP magazine questions this is an excellent resource:

I found out that Mecgar is the maker of the mags i don't think no more than 1000 rounds have been fired through the gun, and the extractor looks fine, but like i said it has not been shot in years.
i did not get to go shooting today because it was raining, but i am going and i will tell you how the new mags work out tomorrow . thanks a lot for the info and websites |

do you have to be paying member to put up pics? no. very simple. You need only upload them, from your computer, to a host website, for instance I use photobucket.com (You''ll need to sign up and create a free account with the host site) Then you can copy/paste the URL of your image into your post Arfcom Picture Posting Tutorial ––––> http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=3&t=638569 Looking forward to seeing your BHP

Jamming once is unacceptable! Needs to be fixed! My guess is your Dad want's you to figure that out by yourself. But is ok to ask advise. |

What's truly amazing is that you ignored responses questioning: Choice of ammunition? Lube? Magazine? Recoil spring? Extractor? All possible causes of a cartridge not feeding properly. Yet...........your OWN post offered NOTHING in the way of advice or guidance. The OP's FOURTH post identified that the MAGAZINE was not feeding correctly. Every post after that was information regarding magazines. AND GUESS WHAT?????????? OP went out and bought a new magazine and it solved the problem.
