| I am going to move to USPSA Limited division with an XDm.40 here in a few months and I was wondering what modifications you offer or can recommend that would benefit me in competition. The gun is box-stock, so I know a trigger job is on the list. What else can be done to an XDm to make it a better limited gun? |
| Trigger job, adjustable sights, extended magazine release, magazine well with extended basepads, solid steel guide rod, and either grip tape or a grip treatment are the basics. If you want to get fancy, you can get a Barsto barrel, slide cuts, undercut the grip, extended slide release, custom finishes, ect. Calling the shop will get you the best/fastest answers to any questions you might have 541-480-5546. |

I too have an XDM40 and have been shooting it in Limited for USPSA and have gotten my first classification as C. I recently bought Dawson Sights, a Solid guide rod and slide stop from Springer and, after much deliberation, a Powder River trigger kit. Not knocking SP at all because there are just as many great reviews on their trigger jobs as Powder River's.
Point is, I realized I was losing time between the long trigger pull and reset as well as the muzzle flip, and after 4000 rds, the dots fell out of my factory sights, and my slide stop sheared off during the last match (during the classifer stage at that). After researching, I think the trigger group will help the most with the USPSA matches as will the solid guide rod. I also use Canyon Creek mag extensions with Grams followers to get me 20+1 to start and then 20 in each mag. You can fit 21 in the mag, but it is tight and I think it needs to loosen up a bit to keep from locking up the slide. To sum up, I am in the same boat you are and those are the steps I am taking to level the playing field in Limited. |
