What's the difference between H&K Variant 1 and 2 pistols?

I just consulted the HK firearms manual and the only difference between variants 1 & 2 is that var.1 has the control lever (decocking/safety lever) on the left side. Variant 2 has the lever on the right side. That is the only difference; they both have same caliber availability, bobbed hammer, DA & SA, & control lever for both the safety and decocking. HTH
